8 Night Voyageurs Canoe Trip - from Gunflint Lake to
Lake Superior
6 nights/7 days in the wilderness, plus your first and last night in a bunk house
Best in late Spring and early Summer
This longer more adventurous trip is along the route taken by the Voyageurs
as they headed into the wilderness from Lake Superior. This trip follows the
border on lakes from Gunflint Lake to Pigeon River and the Grand Portage.
The route has quite a bit of paddling and a couple of the portages are on the
long side. As a result this is a route not often paddled which means it is great
for energetic canoeists looking for a more challenging, lesser used area of the
wilderness.
Includes: Overnight accommodations in a bunk house before and after your
canoe trip, plus 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners at the lodge Bistro, 6 nights/7 days
of complete outfitting, all maps, pickup at Grand Portage on your last day,
showers, and a complete route briefing.
$819.00 per person, plus your BWCAW permit,
user fees and sales tax, using Royalex canoes
Available All Summer!
We are just a few minutes away from the Saganaga landing, which is the starting
point for those interested in a canoe trip to the Quetico Park of Ontario. The Quetico
is considered more remote than the BWCAW and you are more on your own. You
may select your own campsites, which do not have a fire grate or wilderness latrine
as in the BWCAW. The Quetico abounds with smallmouth bass and walleye, and
most canoeists see eagles, ospey, moose, beaver and loons. You have four entry
point choices when entering the Quetico from Saganaga, and each has a very
limited number of daily permits.
8 Night Quetico Park Package - with Saganaga tow
6 nights/7 days in the wilderness, plus your first and last night in a bunk
house
All summer
Canoe trips into the Quetico Park of Ontario are even more remote than the
BWCAW, frequently with better fishing. The Gunflint area is the one location
that you can enter the Quetico Park without any portaging, so you have a fast
access to this area. We package up our outfitting with a tow on Saganaga
Lake so you can be dropped off fairly close to the ranger check-in and be on
your way. We custom plan your trip, you can pick from several loops or base
camp choices. Since this is a Canadian trip you will need your remote border
crossing permit. Please go on-line to download the application at: www.cbsa-
asfc.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/bsf386-eng.pdf. Plan on doing this at
least 4 weeks before your trip starting dates. Starting this year you will need to
bring your passport for trips into Canada.
Includes: Overnight accommodations in a bunk house before and after your
canoe trip, plus 2 break-
fasts and 2 dinners at the
lodge Bistro, 6 nights/7
days of complete outfitting,
all maps, showers and a
complete route briefing.
$735.00 per person, plus
your Quetico permit,
camping fees
and sales tax, using
Kevlar canoes
Add $60.00 per person
if you want a round trip
tow on Sag per person.
