Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness (BWCAW) Canoe Trips BWCAW
and Quetico Park canoe trip outfitting from the Gunflint Trail area

Group Outfitting

The Boundary Waters Canoe Area is a unique area for an adventure trip for organized groups, such as Boy Scouts, Church Youth Groups and School Groups, etc. to visit and explore. This vast canoeing wilderness is an adventure from start to finish. You might be paddling around a corner one minute and see a moose feeding, or fishing around a beaver house and feel the hit from a nice northern pike. Then there is the quality time around the campfire, setting up your camp, and planning your next day's adventure. Nature presents you with a peaceful and undisturbed setting in the Boundary Waters Wilderness to use as you wish -- to be as structured or open as you please.

Boy Scouts at Gunflint OutfittersScout Groups

50 Miler Trip Awards, Eagle Scout Projects, Troop Service Projects, Merit Badges in Cooking, Camping, Canoeing and more!

This is Scouting country—that can often be best enjoyed using a private outfitting company. A canoe trip in the Boundary Waters Country gets Scouts out into the country camping, cooking, navigating, fishing, exploring and doing all the things they have been training for.

We have hosted Scout groups for over 70 years and have been active scouts ourselves, so we understand your needs and we know how to outfit you for a first class canoe trip.

One of the advantages of using a private outfitting company is the flexibility we offer. We start and end trips every day, we work with you to plan a trip itinerary that fits the ages and expertise of your scouts, you lead your own trips in the BWCA, trips can be any length of time, we can help you arrange projects or plan merit badge work, and you may bring some of your own gear if you wish.

The BWCA wilderness is a living laboratory and a work of nature in progress--ever changing, by the seasons and by the years. There are a multitude of opportunities for learning in a variety of disciplines, plus the personal growth, leadership development and confidence building opportunities.

Teachers can make this country into an outdoor classroom in so many ways--it is just a question of what to zero in on and how to package it.

The boreal forest in the highlands of northeastern Minnesota has many species of birds not found in the prairies and hardwood forests of mid America. In our Laurentian highlands, covered with pines, birch, aspen, peat bogs, cedar swamps and balsam thickets, there are over 50 species of resident birds, in addition to the migrations in the spring and fall.

Church Groups

Church Youth Group Canoe Trips, Retreats and Spiritual Development

It is a place for bonding, for leadership, and for personal development. These are some of the values we all hope to share with our youth - as parents, as church leaders and as educators. Special moments can be created in so many ways—for example, sitting around an evening campfire at sunset with a vespers program, or perhaps letting everyone step into the forest to a solo quiet spot to just listen and contemplate.

Completely Outfitted Group Canoe Trip Packages

For organized groups of 8 or more

Explorers Trip

6 Day/ 5 Night Canoe Trip Package

First and last night's bunkhouse plus 4 days and 3 nights in the wilderness

$249.00 per person

This package works well for first timers or younger groups. You spend your first night with us in a bunk house, giving you time to pack your gear in our packsacks, to go over your trip route and get a full briefing, review the mandatory BWCA video for the rules and regulations, and limber up with an evening paddle on Gunflint Lake. The BWCA has over 1,000 lakes so we have many many route choices to consider when we work with you to select a trip that meets your priorities.

In the morning, after breakfast, we load up and transport you to your entry point (most of the landings are within 15-20 minutes of us). In just minutes you are into the wilderness and your adventure begins. The BWCA has no roads, no homes and no residents but the 1,000,000 acres+ wilderness has beautiful clearwater lakes, lots of wildlife (moose, deer, beaver, eagles, etc), and decent fishing for walleye, smallmouth bass, northern pike and lake trout. Your maps indicate where your campsite choices are and you can pick any one you wish. You are welcome to either make a base camp or to plan a trip where you move camp each day. If you elect to make a base camp you can explore and fish during each day on adjacent lakes, returning to your camp come evening. If you move each day we will have planned a circle route for you, and you will probably end up at a different landing at the end of your trip. After we pick you up on your last day, we get you back for a hot shower, and a hot dinner. After spending your last night in our bunk house, we set you a cold breakfast, and then you head home with many stories from your BWCA wilderness canoe trip.

Your package starts with dinner that first evening and goes through breakfast your last day. We include everything you need for your canoe trip except your personal gear (you bring your own sleeping bag, pad, rain gear, insect repellent, flashlight, and fishing gear). We arrange for your wilderness permit, provide you with appropriate maps, and personally review your menu to see that you have everything you need for tasty meals that are to your liking.

Not included is the sales tax, BWCA permits, BWCA user fees and fishing license.

Prospectors Trip

7 Day/ 6 Night Canoe Trip Package

First and last night's bunkhouse plus 5 days and 4 nights in the wilderness

$299.00 per person

This trip is one day longer than the Explorers Trip and lets you select a route taking you deeper into the BWCA wilderness country. This begins to get you into areas with fewer other canoeists, often with more wildlife, and lesser used campsites. All the equipment and services are identical to the Explorers Trip.

Not included is the sales tax, BWCAW permits, BWCAW user fees and fishing license

Voyagers Trip

8 Day/ 7 Night Canoe Trip Package

First and last night's bunkhouse plus 6 days and 5 nights in the wilderness

$349.00 per person

This is a bit longer and is designed to support a more challenging trip into the BWCA wilderness. We have several loop trips that take you deep into the heart of the BWCA that your paddlers will long remember as a real adventure.

Not included is the sales tax, BWCAW permits, BWCAW user fees and fishing license
