Picking Your Route
Don't stress out on this requirement, as we take care of it for you. We like to visit with you on the phone so you can tell us what would make a Boundary Waters trip a perfect wilderness experience for you. This is an opportunity for you to tell us about your paddling skills, ambition level, fishing interests, photography interest, cooking skills, etc. We have close to 50 routes to consider when we begin to make recommendations to you.
It is like fitting a jigsaw puzzle together with you—we have routes with larger lakes and fewer portages, we have circle routes, we have base camp itineraries, and we have some extra pretty small lake routes. We can create a route for a trip of 3 to 20 days in length. If you are fishermen, we sort out what species of fish you prefer (walleye, smallmouth bass, lake trout, or northern pike), since not all lakes have all these fish choices. All our routes are in the BWCA or Quetico, so there are no residents, roads, or cars. We all operate with the 'no can and no bottle' rule in mind, so we leave only our footprints behind, as we take pride in keeping our wilderness clean and pristine.
Normally we find 2 or 3 route choices that fit your dream, and we talk them over until we find the very best one.
