I wanted to thank you and your staff for a great time at Gunflint. Having never really under taken the task of planning such a trip the thought of disaster loomed heavy. You and your staff made everything so easy that it was almost scary.
Needless to say we all had a great time. The boys could not stop talking about the different things that each had experienced. One of the first questions they had after we had left is when are we coming back to Gunflint and the BWCA for another canoe trip?
We are looking forward to planning another trip in 09. Also wanted to thank you for sending the T-shirt one of the boys left. When they saw it, they said I wondered where it went? typical 12 year old.
Once again thanks for the great time.
Sincerely, Vern Chavez,
Scoutmaster Troop #1
P.S. I sing your praises to everyone I know who is looking for a High Adventure trip. Also would it be possible to get the recipe for the Hudson Bay Bars?
Just a quick note to let you know what a fine job you did handling our BWCA canoe trip earlier this month. We have used other outfitters in the past and, in comparison, I appreciate your excellent communication with me, upbeat and cheery staff, and the advance invoice to take care of the costs upfront, among the many services you provided us. We will be returning to our beloved BWCA again and we already know which outfitter we'll be using. Thanks again for the great work.
Sincerely, Steve Johnson
Troop 320 wishes to thank you and your employees for all the help and assistance you gave us. You and your staff really have everything under control and know exactly how much and how to pack everything you would need for a wonderful canoe trip into the Boundary Waters. Here is the council patch I said that I would send to you. I hope that you have a wonderful season and we hope to be doing business with you in the future. Thank all of you for your help.
Sincerely Rodney Crew, Asst Scout Master
I wanted to thank you for making our National Sales Meeting in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness one that our sales force will never forget. It was just perfect. You must keep in mind that our reps have driven Formula Fords in flame-retardant suits on a professional race course, experienced a herd of cattle in the high country, and have driven Humvee's over the mountains. So when we say it was a memorable trip, we really have something to compare it to. The surroundings, the extra effort by your people, the Northern Lights, the food, and yes, even the portages, will be talked about for many years to come. How you got rid of all the mosquitoes is the part that amazed me the most. My only regret is that we couldn't have stayed longer, but then we may never have gotten some of our people back.
Because we care,
R. Scott Fanning, Vice President of Sales
On behalf of all our group from the shores of the Chesapeake Bay, I want to thank you and all the people at Gunflint Northwoods Outfitters who helped to make our canoe trip a successful one. It wouldn't surprise me if you see some of us back there some day. Thank you again for being so helpful and provisioning us so well.
Sincerely yours, Jennifer Stanley, Oxford Kids Program,
Just a short note to thank you for a great trip and being an accommodating host for the recent BSA Troop 115 outing from Louisville. All the leaders and Bill and I thank you for a pleasant stay... from 32 of us.
Frank Jeff, Troop 115
Thank you so much for helping us plan our canoe trip last week. It worked great for all of us. If the seat had not broken the first day out it would have been better, but luckily my husband tied it together so things worked out. We did see wild life like you said. We also enjoyed our canoer cabins with electricity and comfortable beds. The food at the lodge was excellent and the weather was great. We shall treasure our BWCA canoe trip.
Wendy Finch and crew
I just returned from Gunflint. I was with the Hirsh party on your guided BWCA wilderness canoe trip. Guide, Doug Burton, was a gem. The entire experience was wonderful, the lodge, the food, the wilderness, the outfitting, the camping were all first class. Hopefully we will be with you next year.
Just a short note to let you know how much my brother, Bert, and I appreciate the quality and efficiency of the service you provided during our visit earlier this month for our BWCA canoe trip. Between us, we have 98 years canoeing experience - much with outfitters in KY, IN, WI, MN and Ontario and know of none better than Gunflint Northwoods Outfitters. We'll be back.
I just wanted to say a heartfelt "thank you" to you and your entire staff for another enjoyable canoe trip booked through Gunflint Northwoods Outfitters. This was my seventh completely outfitted trip with you, and there are numerous reasons I keep returning to GNO. First and foremost of course is the great staff with which you surround yourself year after year. After retiring last year from a long career in customer service with a major corporation I can state without reservation that you must have the right kind of people, or you will fail miserably in keeping customers happy. You and your crew have without fail over the years always met and exceeded my expectations.
Best Regards, Chuck Oehler

A big thank-you for your friendly help in outfitting, guiding, housing, feeding and hiking for us and with us. We appreciated all your efforts and the many nice little extras you provided to make our stay more enjoyable. Now we're telling the central Minnesotans about our fun. Don't ordinarily write thank-you notes to places we stay, but we thought you should know you get five stars.
Sincerely, Beth and Jack Chain
Thank you so much for the unforgettable weekend my son, Sam, and I spent in the Boundary Waters earlier this month. Ever since we got home, Sam can't wait to tell friends, grandparents, etc. about camping and canoeing in the Boundary Water. Hope to be back next year. Because of the excellent service and friendliness of you and your crew we will be coming back to Gunflint. Will you please send me four more brochures. I would like to give them to friends and business colleagues.
I am writing to say thank you for hosting another great family adventure.
Your outfitting was complete and perfect; we wanted for nothing. Your menu choices were delicious and plentiful! The ‘Trapper Cabins’ were part of our adventure before and after canoeing and again there is nothing like using your great hot shower after the canoeing.
But maybe one of the best parts of our experience with Gunflint Northwoods Outfitters were the people that we met that helped in this experience. Bonnie and Sheryl, you always make us feel like family as we arrive and you prepare us for our canoe trip. We met the nice and very friendly young men that drove us to our canoeing drop off, and again picked us up at the end of our trip. We met Allison as one of our waitresses down at the lodge and then again as our group leader on the ‘Zip’ line experience. Allison is a keeper at whatever she sets her final focus, please tell her to pursue becoming a Chaplin.
This year our party of four again were treated to your Northwoods via your great outfitting. We entered the BWCA at Saganaga Lake and returned 4 days later at the Seagull landing. Our first day was spent canoeing, portaging and setting up camp, it was a perfect day. Come evening we relaxed, read, watched loons, fished a little, and even took an afternoon nap, one of the most relaxing days we’ve had all year. The next day we caught our dinner with some of the best, freshest bass in the world.
At the end of our trip, the meals and cold libations down at the lodge, while we sat outside and watched the sun go down, will be forever imprinted in our memories.
Thank you for another great outfitting adventure. Hope to see you again next year.
